Nor'easter?

What the heck is a Nor'easter, anyway?

Where I come from they call it "rain," or--sometimes--a "rainstorm."

Is it supposed to be like a pirate saying "Northeaster?"

Why can't NYC weatherpeople just say, "There's a big rainstorm coming"?
